Same timber windows, brand new performance

Many classic strata buildings in Sydney and Melbourne have lovely wooden sash windows that add a heritage character to the buildings. However, there comes a time these need repairs, refurbishments and glass replacement.

Rather than using a generic handyman, we can safely restore and upgrade these old windows making them better than new. Sealasash is capable of assessing and safely updating an entire building, working in one apartment at a time and with minimal fuss.

This can include draught & acoustic seals, plus utlra-high performance vacuum-insulated double glazing which will dramatically improve the comfort and energy efficiency of the building.

Building & window assessment reports

Ripping out old timber windows and replacing them with new aluminium or uPVC window frames, can dramatically change the character of a strata or heritage building.

Sealasash can restore old wooden windows, making them better than new whilst preserving the original heritage charm.

For building owners, body corp committees and individual residents, we can provide an initial assessment report and quote to help with the decision making process.

Draught & Acoustic Seals

Our draught seals were developed through years of upgrades to timber windows in the cold climates of England, Scotland and Ireland.

They stop up to 86% of airflow and up to 10 dB of noise.

Vacuum-Insulated Double Glazing

For world-class results, we are excited to be the first in Australia to offer Glavenir glazing technology by Panasonic.

Vacuum-Insulated Double-Glazing is proven to perform better than standard triple-glazed units, achieving huge improvements in comfort and energy efficiency.

For excellent results on a mid-range budget, we can also offer low-emissivity single-glazing by Viridian.

All our glass will fit within timber windows without compromising the looks, operation or integrity of the frames. Best of all, your windows will open and close smoothly, with a light touch.

What to expect from us

Using traditional craftsmanship and modern materials, we’ll restore the windows and make better than new.

This includes the installation of our weather-tight draught seals and ultra-high performance double glazing.

Whilst this can be a premium option, it will dramatically increase the functionality and energy efficiency of the windows in any building.

By maintaining the character of the property with these modern updates, you will significantly increase the property value whilst keeping ongoing running costs down.

By selecting an expert who can safety handle larger projects, you’ll get the job done right the first time and future proof the building for many more decades to come.

Major upgrades, without scaffolding

One of our major advantages, is that we can safely refurbish double hung wooden windows without the need for scaffolding in most cases.

This is thanks to our patented “Sash Crab” system which clamps onto a building, provide a safe and clean space when working at heights.

It can help to reduce the overall costs and interruptions when compared to the alternatives.

As much work as necessary, but as little impact as possible

It might be cheaper to rip out the old timber windows and replace them with new plastic or aluminium double glazed windows.  However, you will instantly lose the character of the property and it will never look the same.

Replacing the whole window frame has also been known to cause major disturbances to the structure around your windows, flowing on to create property damage that only appears after the contractor has gone.

On the other hand, keeping original wooden windows maintains and arguably increases the value of the property.

In most cases, the timber windows are made of old-growth timber, that has stood the test of time.

And with a little TLC and some new upgrades, they can outperform a new window & the frame could last another 100 years.
