On Normanby Street in Windsor, Victoria, Sealasash completed a detailed retrofit double glazing Windsor project that combined craftsmanship, heritage sensitivity, and cutting-edge glass technology. This elegant home featured a mix of double-hung sash windows and fixed panes, including stunning arched sections that required precise planning and execution.
In total, 19 panes (6.85m²) of 6.1mm thermal Glavenir Vacuum Insulated Double Glazing by Panasonic were installed. The project was led by our experienced carpenter Matt, whose leadership ensured every detail met our high standards.
The Highlight – Arched Glavenir Panes
The defining feature of this project was the integration of Glavenir into the property’s arched panes. Retrofitting vacuum glass into curved sections is a complex task, demanding precision joinery and careful handling. Our team successfully upgraded these unique sashes, proving that even the most intricate designs can benefit from the insulation and acoustic performance of vacuum glass.

Project Scope
The scope of works included:
- Double-hung windows on cords with Glavenir glass in the main lounge and bedrooms (including arched panes)
- Fixed sashes with Glavenir glass in the stairwell and front entry
- Integration of arched panes in both upstairs bedrooms and the lounge
By pairing these installations with our core draught and acoustic sealing system, the home now has a complete thermal and acoustic envelope without altering its original look.

Preserving Charm While Improving Comfort
Normanby Street is home to some of Windsor’s most character-filled properties. Preserving this heritage while bringing the home up to modern standards was the priority. The new Glavenir units deliver thermal performance up to 8.5 times more efficient than single glazing, while draught sealing ensures smoother operation and a quieter, more comfortable interior.
