Some of us remember that song, but it was Jack not Frank with Dianne back then!
This piece is about a very successful outcome using Glavenir vacuum insulated double glazing at Frank and Dianne’s beautiful cottage in the rural setting of the central north coast of Tasmania.
Frank and Dianne enjoy a view of rolling lush green pastures from the “birds eye” view of a conservatory room they use for relaxing as well as painting. Dianne is a keen artist and nothing could be more inspiring than the view they have from this room.
The conservatory was constructed years ago with wooden solid frames and 4 mm float glass. Float glass has very poor insulation properties. Apart from some rot they required fixing, the major issues they faced were:
– During summer the area heated up to the point where it became uncomfortable to sit in the room.
– During winter, and particularly when there was cloud cover, the room quickly lost any heat gained from direct sunlight.
– When they used a heater in the adjoining lounge room they needed to close off the folding doors to stop heat loss.
After reglazing with Glavenir vacuum insulated double glazing and draught sealing opening sashes the results speak for themselves:
– During summer they have found that they can enjoy our sunroom without any discomfort from overheating.
– During the winter they can leave the sunroom open to the adjoining lounge room and the heat generated from the reverse cycle air-conditioning is retained.
– There is no condensation on the inside of the glass anymore instead the vacuum insulated double glazing is so efficient that any condensation is on the outside of the windows!! The view through the many windows has not been impacted at all.
