In Fitzroy North, the client had been meaning to fix their front window for years. It was one of those classic heritage-window situations: rattling in the wind, noticeable draughts, and a front room that just never held temperature properly. Now that it’s done, they told us they genuinely regret not doing it sooner.

Scope of works
We carried out a full core service on the existing double-hung window and replaced the glass with 4mm E-Tech. The window itself was in relatively good condition, so only minor repairs were required as part of the service. Importantly, the stained glass sidelites were left as-is to preserve the original character.
The timber work included staff bead, parting bead and new cords where required, all finished neatly to suit the home. Internally the window received a stain finish, while externally it was finished in paint for weather protection and a clean street-facing presentation.
Hardware and finish
To complete the upgrade, we installed one lock and one lift in antique brass, keeping the look sympathetic to the window while improving everyday usability.
Client feedback
“Exceptional Service and Quality. We have been wanting to fix our front window for a long time and now that it is done, regret not doing it sooner. The rattling, drafts, etc have all gone and the temperature in the front room is now a few degrees warmer than it was. The Sealasash team were incredible – did not cut corners, did the job right, took care. Would definitely recommend them.”

Outcome
This is the type of job where the difference is immediate. With the window properly serviced, re-corded and sealed, the movement and air leakage are reduced, the rattles disappear, and the room becomes noticeably warmer and calmer without changing the character of the home.
