In Carlton North on Drummond Street, we upgraded a mix of casement and double-hung timber windows with 6.38mm Comfort Plus laminated glass, pairing the glass change with proper servicing, sealing and sill repairs so the whole system performs — quieter, tighter, and far smoother to use.
The home had three front casement-style windows (one operable casement plus two fixed sidelites) and two double-hung sash windows in Bed 1 and the bathroom. The goal was to reduce noise and draughts while keeping the heritage look and maintaining the existing hardware wherever possible.
Scope of works
We core-serviced the main casement window and replaced the glass to 6.38mm Comfort Plus laminated. The two fixed casement sidelites were removed and re-glazed to the same glass. Both double-hungs received a full core service and glass upgrade to 6.38mm Comfort Plus laminated glass. The top sashes were made inoperable to maximise sealing and stability, which is especially valuable on noise-facing rooms.
All existing hardware was maintained and serviced, with one key addition: restricters/angel locks were fitted to both double-hungs for safer day-to-day ventilation control.

Outcome
This was a proper whole-window upgrade: Comfort Plus laminated glass where it matters, timber repairs where needed, and servicing/sealing so everything actually functions and performs long-term. The result is a calmer, tighter home, with windows that feel solid and operate smoothly — and a finish that still looks like it belongs on Drummond Street.
