In Alphington on Keith Street, we carried out a comprehensive window and door renewal across seven double hung timber windows, two fixed sashes and one entry door, pairing core servicing with a reglaze to 6.1mm Glavenir Vacuum Insulated Glazing from Panasonic.
The project focused on improving thermal performance, comfort and day to day usability while retaining the character of the existing timber joinery. Works included reglazing, sash repairs, reuse of existing stained beads where required, removal of colonial bars and making the top sashes inoperable as specified.

Scope of works
The work involved a core service for seven double hung windows, with their glass replaced by 6.1mm vacuum insulated double glazing from Panasonic. Additionally, two fixed sashes were removed and reglazed with the same 6.1mm vacuum insulated double glazing. One entry door also received a core service. Existing staff beads, parting beads, cords, brown and white brushes were reused, along with seals for the front door. All colonial bars on windows were removed and not replaced, and top sashes on double hung windows were made inoperable.
Outcome
The upgrade to 6.1mm vacuum insulated double glazing significantly improves the thermal insulation and energy efficiency of the property. The core service addresses previous issues such as soft patches and joint repairs needed for sashes, ensuring all windows and the entry door function optimally for enhanced comfort and longevity.
The property now features modernised windows and an entry door with superior thermal performance and renewed functionality. The installation of vacuum insulated double glazing from Panasonic contributes to a more energy-efficient and comfortable indoor environment, while specific operational changes and aesthetic updates were completed as specified.
This project successfully delivered an upgraded window and door system, improving both the comfort and energy efficiency of the home.
